Katrine Blinkenberg

Self-taught sculptor working primarily with plaster and clay, among other mediums. Originally, I graduated with a master's degree in theology from the University of Copenhagen and was ordained as a priest in the Danish National Church in 2010.

Since then, I have served as a vicar and army chaplain until I decided to change my career path in 2022, dedicating my time to art, ceramics, and teaching.

Surrealism's approach in both literature and art serves as a significant inspiration to me. In my previous career, I frequently employed automatic writing, and I have endeavored to translate that method into my sculpting process, making it less deliberate and more intuitive. I call it automatic creation. The lack of control, the randomness and the subconscious are important ingredients that completely drown out intention, achievement and perfectionism. In my artwork, theology and existential themes are predominant.
